How to deactivate your Twitter Account
How to delete Twitter account. Twitter is one of the most popular micro- blogging websites in the world. With millions of people sending tweets each and every day, there is massive traffic moving on the website at any point in time. Twitter allows its users to send ‘tweets’, which are essentially statements with a character count of 140. Users can address others by tagging them in to the tweet, or contribute towards a ‘hashtag’ using this service. Second only from Facebook in terms of active traffic at any point in time, Twitter is now the most popular way for people to share a piece of news or information. Many major companies have also established their online presence via Twitter. Given the professional nature of the website, disabling an account on Twitter is very easy. Here’s how to do it.
1. Log in to your Twitter Account
The first step is to log in to your Twitter account. To do that, open www.twitter.com and enter your username and password in the space provided on the right hand side of the screen (as shown in the picture).

2. Visit the Settings page
Once you have logged in, you will be able to see your Timeline. The Timeline is the main window of Twitter, where a user can see all of their tweets, and the tweets of others. Click on your profile picture, right beside the blue button that says ‘Tweet’.

3. Click on deactivate my account
Review all of the changes that have been made to your Twitter profile, and then click on “Deactivate my account”. This statement is located right below the ‘Request your Archive’ button, and is underlined in blue.
4. Read Twitter’s policy
When you click on deactivate your account, Twitter will show you a list of points that require your attention. You can review each and every point and decide whether you really want to delete your Twitter Account or not. Once you have decided that there’s no turning back, you can simply click on the blue button that says ‘Deactivate’ and your account will be deactivated, as shown in the picture.
